Intervention

“Family Medicine Program” (FMP), a community-based health intervention designed by the Turkish Ministry of Health that assigned every citizen to a designated family physician, who provides primary care services free-of-charge. The physicians (along with their teams formed by an equal number of nurses and midwives) are public employees paid on a performance-based system and are based in “Family Health Centers”, where citizens have access to counseling regarding primary care and to preventive care, curative, and rehabilitative services.
